Account Deletion

What happens when you request deletion of a Cardary account and related data.

Overview

You can request deletion of a Cardary account through the app or by contacting support. Account deletion is intended to remove or deactivate the account and user content associated with it, subject to technical, legal, tax, payment, security, fraud-prevention, backup, and audit requirements.

What deletion can remove

Deletion may remove or deactivate:

  • profile information, avatar, nickname, and account settings;
  • login records and third-party sign-in links;
  • device records and sync state;
  • decks, cards, notes, tags, categories, learning records, quiz logs, schedules, and statistics;
  • uploaded resources, images, audio, files, published packages, and related metadata;
  • notification preferences, cloud messages, and support metadata tied only to the account.

What may be retained

Some records may be retained when necessary, including:

  • purchase and subscription records needed for entitlement, tax, accounting, refunds, fraud prevention, and store compliance;
  • security logs, anti-abuse records, and audit records;
  • backups retained for limited operational periods before overwrite or deletion;
  • records required by law, dispute resolution, enforcement, or legal claims;
  • content already copied, exported, downloaded, or shared by another user before deletion.

Processing time

Deletion is asynchronous. Some data may be removed quickly, while resource storage, indexes, caches, search data, backups, and third-party provider records may take longer to expire or be deleted according to operational schedules.

Local data

Deleting your server account does not always erase local data already stored on a device. Delete the app, clear local data, or remove downloaded resources from each device if you also want to remove local copies.

Subscriptions

Account deletion does not cancel Apple App Store or Google Play auto-renewal. Cancel the subscription through the store before or after requesting account deletion if you do not want renewal.

Before requesting deletion

Export anything you need to keep. Once deletion is processed, decks, resources, learning records, and account state may not be recoverable.
